eminem song blamed in child sexual assault

Sexual assault of 9-year-old boy blamed on an Eminem song that describes forced fellatio.

A 13-year-old boy was convicted in a Manchester court last Wednesday of sexual assault. The older boy, who was 12 at the time, had forced 9-year-old boy to repeatedly perform oral sex on him, reported a Canadian gay news site.

The court was told that lyrics from a song Ken Kaniff from the Shady Slim album by homophobic rapper Eminem may have played a significant part in the assault. The song graphically describes forced fellatio.

Judge Barry Woodward, who listened to the track in court, described it as "quite disgusting."

Prosecutor William Baker said: "One possibility is that the 12-year-old boy in adolescence heard the track and thought it would be a good idea to make someone do that to him."

Michele Elliott, a child advocate with the group Kidscape, criticised the music industry for giving such records "a platform."

"There is something disturbing about a record or video egging people on to behave outside social parameters. I personally find them disgusting and don't think we should give them a platform. If you are already disturbed, listening to something particularly unpleasant could give you the rationale that it is okay," she said.
