Hot Fuzz was a huge hit in the UK when it was released in February — so huge, in fact, that the film managed to break into imdb.com's list of the Top 250 most popular films of all time, ranking at No. 115. Imagine that!
This absolutely hilarious comedy stars Simon Pegg as a police officer in a big city. He is so quick and effective at solving cases and catching criminals, that he makes the other officers look bad. As a result, his own police force ships him off to a little country town that is peaceful, idyllic and virtually crime-free.
Simon is paired with an inexperienced bumbling officer (Nick Frost) who's watched too many Hollywood cop shows and keeps asking Simon stuff like, "Have you ever fired two guns while throwing yourself sideways through the air?... Or been in a high-speed pursuit?" Luckily for them both, a series of "accidental" local deaths turn out to be something quite sinister...
For anyone who appreciates Brit humour, Hot Fuzz is a truly knee-slapping experience. It is a comedy of manners, a slapstick farce and a parody of Hollywood cop show all rolled into one. If you're familiar with the conventional cop shows like Bad Boys and Point Break, you probably won't stop laughing during the film's high points.
For anyone who appreciates great Brit sitcoms like The Office, Hot Fuzz is the best thing out there right now. Don't miss it!
