Exhausted from work and the stress of living in a fast paced, crowded city and looking forward to some mindless entertainment? Here's your chance then.

Our pick of the week is Battleship. This adaptation of that bestselling board game (we kid you not!) is an alien invasion flick. Its creators aspire to make Battleship the first Michael Bay film that doesn't need to be made by Michael Bay. In other words, expect very loud explosions, military machismo, hardware worship, and very interesting Bay-style storytelling!

Ghosts and ghouls beware, for an English ghost hunter for hire is out to prove her theory that you don't exist! English horror makes a very credible comeback with the well-written and exquisitely shot The Awakening. Her assignment for this movie: shack up with a boarding school full of terrified boys who are literally frightened to death by a resident ghost.

It's only on hindsight that we realise the American Pie series unleashed the latter-day sexual revolution of the notties. Not every teen comedy has the honour of introducing words like "milf" into the English language! In American Pie: The Reunion, the original cast of the film series return for more R-rated fun and mischief.
