LGBT and civil rights activists in Hong Kong protest Russia's anti-gay laws to mark beginning of Winter Olympics in Sochi
A group of over 30 LGBT and civil rights activists, including legislator Leung Kwok-hung marched to the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong on Friday to protest Russia’s anti-LGBT laws.
The protest was held on the opening day of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and coincided with All Out’s Global Speakout for Russia campaign which took place in more than 25 cities last week.
The event was organized by Socialist Action (Hong Kong), legislator Leung Kwok-hung of the League of Social Democrats, Women Coalition of HKSAR and Rainbow Action, who stated: 'The protest is held in solidarity with LGBT people in Russia. We want to remind people in Hong Kong that as they watch the Winter Olympics on television, there are serious human rights violations happening in Russia and to speak out against anti-gay laws.'
One protestor donned a mask of Putin's face and wore a gold medal for homophobia around his neck.

well the mindset of the general population in Russia has to change
regarding acceptance of gay rights until that happens nothing will change there this also applies to most countries that are anti-gay.

2. President Vladimir Putin -state in interview with BBC : Gay people face no discrimination at work, or society in Russia. The new law did not harm anybody.
