Director Kwak Jae-Young scored a massive hit in 2001 with My Sassy Girl. The story of a geek who gets the beautiful Jun Ji-Hyun proved irresistible to hundreds of thousands of moviegoers in Asia.
Now the director is back with the same formula in Cyborg She, this time involving a geek who falls in love with beautiful cyborg. The film goes through the same routine of a lonely guy who chances upon a beautiful girl. It turns out that the girl is a cyborg sent from the future to help him cope with loneliness, and just like My Sassy Girl's Jun Ji-Hyun, she plays rough and disappears after they spend one night together.
It's fairly entertaining, but so much of it reminds us of My Sassy Girl.
