You wouldn't believe how many times F- and C- words are uttered in this film. Then again, considering it's by director Kevin Smith, you shouldn't be surprised. Kevin, the champion of slackers and slobs, the darling of low-budget indie hits like Clerks and Dogma, is back after a long break with this sweet and endearing - though foul-mouthed - comedy.
Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) and Elizabeth Banks (Definitely, Maybe) play roommates who are broke and deep in debt. Desperate to off pay their bills, Seth hits on an idea to shoot a porn film at the coffee-shop where he works, with a "porn-buster" title Swallow My Cockuccino. Both would star in it along with other actors - and the surprises here even include real-life porn star Katie Morgan and former porn star Traci Lords.
Amazingly, Zack and Miri Make A Porno doesn't feel cheap. On the contrary, it is actually quite funny, with a few groan-out-loud and laugh-out-loud moments. Yes, there's a lot of swearing and mildly disgusting jokes. But the film overall is full of cheer and sweetness.
For fans of Kevin Smith and Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-year-Old Virgin), this is a must-see. Showing exclusively at Golden Village Cinemas.
