The group of Stephen Docker (vocals), Gerard Sidhu (bass), Travis Constable (drums) and Gillan Gregory (guitar) picks up right where Phoenix and Two Door Cinema Club left off with a cool, classy and indie-styled pop aesthetic that may sound familiar but is distinctly their own.
Take for example their buzz track "Climbing Walls." This tune solidly positions Strange Talk as one of the most promising new groups to look out for in 2011 with its pulsating beat, subtle synth flourishes and that instantly infectious "whoohoo" hook. This little tastemaker will give you an appetite for more. I promise.
In an interview with Aussie alternative radio station Triple J, the group explains that their sound is a reflection of very diverse musical inspirations. "I guess, as a band, we have strong and varied musical backgrounds from classical music to dance music, and the song 'Climbing Walls' reflects that. (. . .) Inspiration wise, we draw from our record collections, and all of the incredible local and international music getting created and toured around Australia."
