IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia) only three months away

With just 3 months to go to the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia (IDAHOT) 2014, activists in dozens of countries are now actively planning their events, whilst many have already announced them.

The issue of freedom of expression for sexual and gender minorities was chosen by activists worldwide as a priority area of concern that deserves our full attention on the upcoming International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, May 17, 2014.
For almost 10 years now, each May 17th marks the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. In approximately 120 countries in the world, hundreds of organizations take the most varied forms of action, from organising conferences to film festivals, protest or pride marches.
IDAHOT activists in Hong Kong have confirmed plans for the Day, including a series of education events. There will be a 'Trans Ally' corporate event and an Ally workshop involving students and teachers. They will also have a social media campaign to share, a candlelight vigil planned for Friday May 16, and more announcements coming soon.
The Vietnam National Assembly will review the Marriage and Family Law this year to consider same-sex marriage, and this will be a key focus for their IDAHOT actions this year.
Last year saw IDAHOT events in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, Bali, Hanoi and Manila. Are you planning an event for 2014? Be sure to tell us about editor@fridae.asia.
