On the heels of his tour with Tori Amos, emerging artist Yoav released his debut album "Charmed & Strange" last month. It is an eclectic collection of twelve tracks that feature Yoav's unusual brew of pop, hip hop, electronica and drum 'n bass music.
Based in London, but raised in Israel and South Africa, Yoav "crafts a sophisticated pattern of kicks, snares and synth lines using only his voice and versatile acoustic guitar, in place of samples and drum machines," according to a press statement. Of the all songs on "Charmed & Strange," Yoav says, "I tried to translate dance music to guitars (. . .) using it as my decks. I felt like I was DJ-ing with my guitar."
Check out a guilt-free MP3 download of Aaron LaCrate's remix of "Club Thing" that is taken from a limited-edition DJ promo release that also features remixes from RAC and Ghislain Poirier. LaCrate added some catchy synth flicks, a buzzing bass and clap-happy breaks to turn up the song's dancefloor sensibilities.
