With so many serious Oscar-nominated movies swarming the screens, we girls need something light to balance them out, right? Enter 27 Dresses, the cute romantic comedy with an even cuter cast.

Newly-minted Hollywood sweetheart Katharine Heigl plays a woman who's totally obsessed with weddings. Although her day job is working as a secretary for sports goods entrepreneur Edward Burns, she freelances as a wedding planner who knows exactly what sort of cake, flowers, champagne and wedding dress a bride deserves.

Yet when the chaotic ceremonies are over, all she's left with are the bridesmaid dresses that hang in her closet yes, all 27 of them. She too dreams of getting married. But the man she wants her boss Edward just won't look her way...

Katharine Heigl, who's charmed many audiences with her gracious performances in Grey's Anatomy and Knocked Up, once again proves to be very watchable even in the most predictable of genres, the rom-com. With her down-to-earth demeanour, sharp comic timing and wholesome persona, she goes over well with both women and men, gay or straight.
