The Deaths of Ian Stone

Director: Dario Piana

Starring: Mike Vogel, James Bartle, Andrew Buchan, Christina Cole, Michael Dixon, Jason Durran

Release: 2008-02-19

The buff, blonde and very sexy Mike Vogel (last seen in Cloverfield) makes this B-grade horror movie worth watching for gay men. After all, we need something sexy and simple to balance out all the serious Oscar-nominated movies playing in the cinemas right now. And Mike who goes bare-chested frequently in this movie surely makes a case for our ticket and popcorn purchase.

Mike plays Ian Stone, an ordinary young man who is viciously attacked by an unidentified predator. He loses consciousness but wakes up the next morning living a completely different life. By the end of the day, he is attacked again and passes out, but wakes up the next day living yet another different life.

The cycle repeats itself every day, as Ian seems to die again and again from the brutal attacks. What in the world is going on here?

Directed by Dario Piana (They Only Come Out At Night), The Deaths of Ian Stone has a storyline that's original enough to attract legendary special effects man Stan Winston (Edwards Scissorhands, Constantine, Batman Returns) to produce the film. But the plot does get increasingly wild towards the end.

While horror/sci-fi movies aren't enjoyed by everyone, Mike Vogel is hot enough to keep gay men's eyes glued to the screen for one and a half hours. Seeing Mike in his boxers is surely a bigger turn-on than watching Matthew McConaughey shirtless in Fool's Gold (see below).
