Hong Kong’s flagship airline launches same-sex couple ad

Hong Kong’s largest airline, Cathay Pacific, this week launched an inclusive advertisement as part of its rebrand.

This week, Cathay Pacific revealed ‘Move Beyond’ as its new slogan, to replace ‘Life Well Travelled’. The advertising campaign was highlighted on Twitter by Ray Chan, Hong Kong’s only openly gay lawmaker, describing it as ‘bold and timely for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and beyond’. Bold and timely indeed, for a society that still does not recognise same-sex marriages, has no legal anti-discrimination protections, and only decriminalised gay sex in 1991.
