Hot New Talent Alert: Esser

There's something about Ben Esser. And that something is deliciously good.

Hailing from Essex, England, the 23 year-old comes from a family of musicians. His father is a music teacher and his younger brother is a drummer who now plays in Esser's band. The singer started fidgeting  with a drum computer and some instruments when he was 11 and he has been crafting bedroom tunes ever since.

After a short stint as a drummer with the now defunct Ladyfuzz, the bedroom virtuoso took matters in his own hands. "I use a computer machine and some instruments to make popular songs. Most of my songs are in the key of E," he says in a press release. Hipper than hip indie label Merok saw the potential and signed him to their roster after previously launching the careers of alt-pop bands like The Klaxons, Crystal Castles and The Teenagers.

Check out a guilt-free download of Esser's fantastic debut single "I Love You" that will formally be released in the U.K. next Monday. It is
a quirky '30s dance hall throwback that sounds like more like a vintage gramophone than a modern-day digital recording. Esser is one those hot new talents that has plenty of indie cred with a solid mainstream appeal (and his handsome looks will give the hipster boys and girls lots to drool for). Something big is in the making for Esser. It just has that buzz to it.
