Melnyk also runs the independently-owned Gaymonkey record label in London that will be releasing his new EP "Revolutions" this month. The disc features guest vocals from Sara Berg, Ebb and Temposhark's Rob Diament who was a guest blogger here back in December. In an interview, Melnyk remembers that the label's name created a bit of a stir when it was first announced. "There was a discussion board on the web from the States that had hundreds of posts debating why the label was called Gaymonkey," he said. "Can people really still have a problem with the word "gay"? Or do they object to monkeys that much!?"
"I think my music can reach a wide audience because the songwriting isnt just geared towards clubbers ears. Club culture has always prided itself about letting everyone into the community and if that is true then there is no room for homophobia."
Check out a free download from the album's excellent title track that is hearty blend of disco, pop and electro. "Revolutions" features Sebastian Muravchik (from breakthrough London italodisco group Heartbreak) on guest vocals. Also, download a guilt-free MP3 of a progressive house mix that Artego produced of the track. Hot stuff.
