Kwak Jae-Young is easily one of the most famous names in Korean showbiz. In the past seven years, this prolific writer-director has produced some of the biggest crowd-pleasers in Korean cinema, including the groundbreaking My Sassy Girl, Windstruck and Cyborg She.

Riffing on the same formula of sassy strong women and hapless men, My Might Princess centres on a college girl (lovely Shin Min-A) who hails from a famous martial arts family. Although she can kick-butt better than any boy in her school, a crush on the hockey team captain renders her helpless and we can totally see why.

The boy in question (played by the gorgeous Geon Yu) has the perfect smile that can reduce anyone to mush. Before you can say "puppy love", Min-A abandons martial arts and joins the ice hockey team. This prompts her concerned father to send her childhood friend (the twinky On Ju-Wan) to her school to persuade her to return to martial arts...

Man oh man, there is so much eye candy in the movie! Gay men would delight in the fact that there are two cute boys in one movie, while lesbians might fancy the tomboyish Shin Min-A who executes her comic role to perfection. Either way, My Might Princess is a light and entertaining movie that's makes for perfect Sunday viewing.

A must-see for K-movie buffs!
