RKO "Mr General" (Starsmith Remix)

Listen to RKO, a rapidly emerging singer of Panamanian/Indian descent in London who serves up a punchy brew of funked up dancefloor pop with pulsing beats and his straight up, gangly vocals.

RKO lists a wide variety of artists that have inspired him, including funk master Rick James, pop giant Max Martin and also "rap maverick" Soulja Boy, whose Dirty South swagger has made an indelible mark on RKO’s sound and stance.

Producer extraordinaire Starsmith (Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue) was impressed by RKO's fun-over-anything sound and asked to remix RKO's "Mr General." Starsmith gives the track a worthy makeover by giving it his signature glossy, pop-savvy finish. The original track is taken from RKO mixtape that you can find here.

The idea behind "Mr. General" is based on George Orwell's 1984. "I've always been very inspired by the movie where he talks about "Big Brother" and constantly being under surveillance," RKO writes me. "I just wanted to convey all these ideas into a militaristic, crunk, funk jam where I riff on about this 'Mr. General' figure and how he should just back off."
