Some of you may remember Niklas Hjulström as the lead singer of Swedish '90s pop sensation Cue who had a massive hit with "Burnin'" back in 1997. Since then, Hjulström has turned his attention to acting and has become a highly-respected, award-winning actor who most recently had a leading role in Sweden's popular Millenium thriller trilogy. But despite his acting success, Hjulström was itching to go back into the studio to revive Cue and record a good 'ole fashioned "singer/songwriter pop album."
The first track to be released from Cue's new effort is the soaring dance pop stomper "Dont Wanna Lie" that was remixed by award-winning pop producer Niklas Bergwall (September, Kate Ryan, Foster The People). Hjulström's team traveled to Los Angeles and gave "pop culture ingénue" and "mega celebrity in the making" Jonny Makeup a starring role in the video.
The video shows a day in the fiercely fun Hollywood life of Jonny Makeup who adds some glitter and glam to the "Don't Wannna Lie" music video. "We wanted to shoot it in LA in order to get the right ambience and surroundings to go with the music," Hjulström tells me. "We talked to our producers over in LA, and they told us that they had the perfect person to go with the video. So they called Jonny Makeup and asked him if it’d be ok if they followed him around for an entire day, and the video is the result result on that."
