HIV Education and Outreach

AIDS Hotline

Safer Sex Material Team
Volunteers can help research for and design new material for distribution - especially for English and Chinese material aimed at general audiences. Contact Person: Roger @96952144 and pdafa@singnet.com.sg.
Media Watch and Research Team
Volunteers in this team have to
- look out for and compile media coverage on HIV-related issues,
- research and develop official stands/positions/responses on issues,
- organise media workshops (in Sep/Oct)
- help to organize a Media Awards gala, to recognize accurate, honest and non-discriminatory reporting of HIV-related issues

Youth Outreach
A youthful coordinator (below 30?) is needed to launch this new peer outreach programme, aimed at young adults between the ages of 17 and 25.
Proposed activities include:
- identification and training of youth peer leaders
- planning of sexual health talks/workshops together with peer leaders
- development and distribution of print/audio-visual electronic material that is attractive to youth
- running of sexual health talks/workshops
- training and deployment of internet outreach volunteers to relevant chatrooms
The coordinator can work with various youth groups and agencies (such as Red Cross, etc), youth-related media (MTV, Juice, Go, SPH publications, etc) and youth venues (Heeren, Orchard Cineleisure, Zouk, etc)
High Risk Heterosexual Men Outreach
The coordinator for this programme has to reach out to the target group by developing and distributing safer sex print material together with condoms at relevant venues. Some outreach, together with Indonesian NGOs, may be needed in the Riau Islands.
