Director Toda Hikaru's documentary, "Of Love & Law" which follows a gay couple who run a law firm together in Japan, was awarded the Firebird Award at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on Monday.
The movie details the personal and professional lives of Osaka-based couple, Masafumi Yoshida and Kazuyuki Minima, who established Japan's first openly gay law firm.
"What an absolute honour have these stories recognised by diverse audience. Thank you Hong Kong, you've been absolutely wonderful!," was posted on the Of Love & Law's Facebook page on Monday.
