Free Download: Kate Havnevik ''Unlike Me''

Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Havnevik's sublime ''Unlike Me'' is a song that was written for everybody who feels different.

Kate Havnevik is an artist you should know about. She's one of those precious little gems that you find and will cherish for a long time to come. She is that good. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Havnevik's melancholic electro-pop is reminiscent of Imogen Heap, Dido and Bjork, but the singer's music has that brisk and crisp Norwegian feel that is distinctly hers. Kate Havnevik is like a Northern Light that shines bright.

Havnevik released her debut album "Melankton" on Universal Republic today. She will be touring North America with Air in the next few months. The singer has come a long way from playing guitar in an all-female punk band to her stint as a background singer for Britney Spears. Her singing career started to gain momentum when she contributed vocals to Royksopp's "Only This Moment" and "Circuit Breaker" in 2005. This led to a collaboration with Guy Sigsworth who produced her debut and added his unique production style to Havnevik's music. Comparisons to Imogen Heap should come as no surprise as Sigsworth and Heap together formed Frou Frou.

The sublime "Unlike Me" is a song that Havnevik wrote for everybody that feels different. "It is about being trapped in yourself, envying people who are free and comfortable with themselves," the singer says in a statement.
