In one of the season's last four episodes, Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston will remember a lesbian encounter with a former sorority sister played by Winona Ryder in the hit sitsom Friends.

Titled "The One with Rachel's Big Kiss", the episode begins when an "embarrassed" Rachel bumps into her old sorority sister "and wonders whether she should confront her old chum about a boozy incident from their college days when their friendship unexpectedly took a dramatic turn," according to a Reuters report that quoted NBC.

However, details of the actual scenes that will be aired were not disclosed.

While more TV programmes are featuring same-sex relationships in the recent years, depictions of on-screen same-sex intimacy are still relatively rare, especially on mainstream hit shows like Friends.

The episode will clash with CBS' next-to-last episode of Survivor when both air on April 27 during the first week of the important May Sweeps.

The May Sweeps signal the end of the TV season, when networks do all they can to boost ratings while Nielsen Media Research Company gathers data designed to help TV stations set advertising rates through November.
