D¨¦j¨¤ Vu

Director: Tony Scott

Starring: Denzel Washington, Jim Caviezel, Adam Goldberg

Release: 2006-12-05

Val Kilmer is sooo putting on weight. But let's talk about the movie, shall we? It is an expensive action flick directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor). The title D¨¦j¨¤ Vu is certainly an apt one, because watching it gives you the feeling you've seen it all before...

Denzel Washington plays a cop who can actually change the course of events through some sort of a time machine (kinda like Tom Cruise in Minority Report). So when terrorists bomb a ferry and kill hundreds, Denzel tries to go back in time to prevent it (kinda like Michael J Fox in Back to the Future). Denzel really wants to save one beautiful victim (Paula Patton) in particular, because after he inspected her beautiful corpse, he's fallen in love with her (kinda like... necrophilia).

As an action film, the action sequences produce the requisite thrills. But as a time travel movie, the scientific explanations the characters give are biggest load of bullshit this side of time.
