Lucy Liu as a vampire in a B-grade film? She probably did it to pay the bills. As always, though, she looks supremely hot kicking ass.
Lucy plays an investigative journalist who is doing an exposé on a Gothic cult group. But things go terribly wrong, and she wakes up in a morgue to find that she has turned into a vampire.
After attacking a homeless man and sucking his blood, she feels guilty and resolves never to prey on humans again. Instead, she wants to take revenge on the gang of vampires who assaulted her and turned her into one of them.
Teaming up with a human cop (Michael Chiklis from Fantastic Four) and armed with a crossbow, she goes after the gang of vampires, led by the cute James D'Arcy and the sexy Carla Gugino. Mayhem ensues...
Expect the usual vampire/action sequences with a bit of humour thrown in (Lucy, for instance, is hilariously bad with the crossbow and just can't shoot straight). Rise: Blood Hunt is strictly B-movie territory, prompting one to ask: "What's a nice girl like you, Lucy, doing in a place like this?"
