Rush Hour 3

Director: Brett Ratner

Starring: Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, Hiroyuki Sanada

Release: 2007-08-07

Action superstar Jackie Chan, nasal-voiced comedian Chris Tucker and director Brett Ratner team up again for Rush Hour 3 — the franchise that broke US box-office records for opening figures in 2001.This time round, Jackie and Chris have to solve the murder of the Chinese ambassador who was shot just before he was scheduled to testify against the international crime syndicate called the Triads. Their investigation takes them all the way to Paris, from the city's dank sewers to the seedy night clubs to the top of the Eiffel Tower...

Like in its previous films, Rush Hour 3 relies on the East-West culture clash, the comic chemistry between the two actors and Jackie's impressive stunts to keep moviegoers entertained. Unfortunately, those are precisely the things that fail to impress this time round.

The jokes fail more than they succeed. Jackie executes fewer stunts than before — possibly because of his age. And the banter between the two men is, more often than not, flat. But there are comic moments (like when Chris pretends to be a gay French designer) and action sequences (the Eiffel Tower climax) that may still make it worth your while. And while Jackie's limberness as a stuntman may be waning, his charisma certainly hasn't.
