The most delightful movie of the week is Le Grand Chef, the Korean cooking comedy that cooked up a storm at the Korean box-office and stayed at the No. 1 spot for three weeks. Blending the right ingredients of comedy and drama into one delicious whole, this feel-good movie makes for the perfect treat if you're looking for some light-hearted, uncomplicated entertainment.

It stars boyish charmer Kim Kang-Woo as a talented but disgraced chef who enters a cooking contest to reclaim his rightful throne as one of the top chefs in Korea. Competing against him is his artful rival Im Won-Hee, who not too long ago sabotaged Kim's chance to prove his talents. As both serve one mouth-watering dish after another, it is the delicious food that becomes the real star of the picture.

Although the plot is largely predictable, Le Grand Chef stays buoyant and enjoyable. The drama is convincing, the comedy is cute, as is the attractive cast. Kim Kang-Woo flaunts his boy-next-door looks ever so subtly, while the leading lady Lee Ha-Na (who plays a nosy reporter covering the cooking contest) pouts to perfection.

If you love East Asian food — as we know many of you do — make a beeline for this.
