The Nation party weekend contributed to that normality and the first day on Friday 4th November saw a welcome reception at the poolside of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Karon Beach, the resort complex Fridae took over for the weekend. The hotel’s main ballroom known as the Arena hosted all the big nightly gatherings and the first night saw a ‘Gym and Locker Room’ party, running from 9pm through to 8am the next morning. The music, as ever outside the UK, was a bit heavy but the added entertainment from dancers to flag wavers and the laser show all help lift the mood.
Saturday saw the Sanctuary poolside party from noon to 6pm. Beautiful bodies danced the day away to the beats of DJs Rock G from Hong Kong, Osaka-based Kosuke, and Taipei’s David S. The main party took place on Saturday night in the Arena with undoubtedly the best music of the weekend. Australia’s first lady of house, Kate Monroe, together with circuit party legend Manny Lehman got an up for it crowd even more so ‘til the early hours. Thereafter Kuala Lumpur based DJ Jason M took the hardcore clubbers through to 8am.
Sunday, the final day of a full-on weekend saw another poolside party suitably named Splash, whilst for those who couldn’t get enough or weren’t too wired or expired, a closing party from 9pm that evening merged into the morning party until 8am on Monday.
More of the regions top DJs played at the final bash including Tiger and Victor Cheng from Taiwan, Yin from Hong Kong, and Indian born Anil Ahuja. This weekend was a platform for some of Asia’s best to play some amazing music and old favourites showing that the music talent from the region is definitely world class. I can truly say this coming from the UK, where us Londoners feel we are blessed with some of the world’s best clubs!
