After releasing her punchy cover of Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts," more Anjulie goodness is unleashed upon us today exclusively here on ArjanWrites.com. Grab a totally guilt-free MP3 remix of Anjulie's new single "Brand New B*tch" that was produced by Dutch beat slayer Laidback Luke.
In a recent interview with AOL Music, Anjulie talks a little more about her poppier new direction after she first hit the scene in 2009 with "Boom." "It's really important to me to write my music so my fans can relate to me in a real way," she explains. "I tried singing other peoples lyrics and I failed miserably. I'm not an interpreter, I'm a creator. It also gives me the luxury of playing with different genres. I'm not defined by pop, rock, hip-hop, electro or dance. I wanted the first single to be something that says 'I'm here.'"
She also reveals in the interview that the track "Sex-Ed," her collaboration with rising pop producer Dr Rosen Rosen that is featured on his free "Girls" EP, was intended for none other than Sky Ferreira. "We got our '80s on working in his home studio (. . .) We ended up keeping the song for his EP because [Sky Ferreira] didn't want it."
Look out for Anjulie's sophomore album in early 2012 that will features collaborations with Jonas Jerberg, JOB, Michel Zitron, Swedish House Mafia and Benny Benassi. Grab the MP3 of Anjulie "Brand New B*tch" (Laidback Luke Remix) after the break.
