Rye Rye turns up the energy on her much-anticipated new single "Boom, Boom" that hits the iTunes store in North America this week. High on exuberance and full of excitement, the young, quick-tongued Baltimore rapper and dancer brings a whole lotta girl power on this very fresh new track that pounds out blistering hip hop beats, a relentless bass line and a slick pop chorus that is instantly infectious. It's a massively potent crossover tune that will hopefully introduce more people that to the unique talent of Rye Rye.
Pop aficionados among you will immediately spot the sample of The Vengaboys' 1998 global smash "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom" in the song's chorus. That track was originally penned by popular Dutch DJ Wessel van Diepen and was part of a string of hits for the Dutch dance pop group that also included crowd faves "We Like To Party" and "We're Going To Ibiza."
Rye Rye has successfully reworked The Vengaboys original together with producer Rudy Maya while maintaining the song's tongue in cheek qualities. Rye Rye rhymes and raps her heart out with some saucy (yet family friendly) lyrics. She confides, "I get tingles when I see that boy, he can be my toy," while getting straight to the point with a heavy dose of humor by noting "like a video game, let's plug and play" that still leaves plenty to the imagination.
This new Rye Rye single follows her collaborations with Far East Movement ("Jello") and Robyn ("Never Will Be Mine) that firmly positioned her as a powerful hip hop dynamo with plenty of potential. Dubbed "the voice of Baltimore," the 21-year-old artist was the first act signed to M.I.A’s label N.E.E.T. Records and other past collaborations have included hits with mentors M.I.A., Diplo and DJ Blaqstarr. Rye Rye’s debut album "Go! Pop! Bang!" will be released on N.E.E.T/Interscope this upcoming spring. Remixes of "Boom, Boom" by Katy Krazy, rising L.A. dubstep producer EOS (preview) and others will be delivered to clubs in conjunction with the single release this week.
