While some of you are eagerly awaiting new material from Lorraine, I suggest you have check out new work by Swedish pop out Kamera as well.

It is a bit crunchier and rock-oriented, but it still decidedly '80s influenced with their infectious blend of swirling electro-synths, emotive vocals and a jagged bassline that channels New Order, The Cult and Duran Duran.

Kamera is Carl DeLorean (drums), Joakim Hjelm (vocals), Kit Balance (bass), Lotus (guitar) and Nico (synth). A press release explains that the group was "born in the spring of 2000 as an antidote to the conformities of their vapid suburban surroundings and the bland motifs of other bands around them." "If you listen to the radio here in Sweden, you'll hear maybe six or seven bands in the course of an hour that sound like Dexys Midnight Runners," said Carl DeLorean, drummer and chief lyricist for Kamera. "That's been trendy for a long time now. It's either about being very indie or very pop, but we're a bit in between."

They're sweet and crunchy. Exactly how I like it.

Check out a guilt-free MP3 download of their uptempo first single "Lies" that is taken from their forthcoming debut album "Resurrection" that will be release on Nettwork on February 5, 2008. A digital version of the album is already available for purchase on iTunes.
