Interview with Erasure

''[Being a gay artist] is still a taboo. The recording industry has a lot to answer for. All they care about is sales, and target markets and all that blah blah.'' Erasure's Andy Bell said in an interview with Arjan.

"[Being a gay artist] is still a taboo. The recording industry has a lot to answer for. All they care about is sales, and target markets and all that blah blah. Young artists usually go along with everything and forget about themselves. In the long run that's harmful. The record company doesn't care because pop is disposable and the artist is disposable. There's a lot of homophobia in the industry. Erasure has never been asked to do any mainstream festivals for example. And we're not in the mainstream music press here in Britain. Thank god for the gay press."

Erasure's Andy Bell told me this in an exclusive interview I did with him for BRAVO's OutZoneTV web site.

Head over to OutZone TV to read the entire story. This was the third time I met Andy and he is really such a sweet guy. He talked candidly about growing up, his alcoholic mother, his recent flirtation with heavy metal music, illegal downloading of his music, the duo's brand-new album "Light At The End Of The World" and Erasure's participation in the True Colors tour.

Amazing band with their latest amazing single out "I could fall in love with u". Has Erasure ever performed in Singapore? It's time LKY give gay pop stars the green light to come to Singapore!
