Watch: Same-sex couples join Taiwan mass wedding

Ten same-sex couples marry in a mass wedding that officially opens to gay couples for the first time since it started in 1973

A mass wedding was held in Taiwan on Saturday with 123 couples tying the knot in a joint ceremony in Taipei. Although gay marriage is not legal in the country, 10 same-sex couples exchanged vows at the annual event for the first time.

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je presided over the event at the University of Taipei’s sports stadium. LGBT rights activist Nelson Chen married his partner Kao Chih-wei.

“The wedding today not only marks the 10th anniversary of our happiness and companionship, it is also our way to show practical support for the Taipei city government, for its decision to include gay couples in its mass wedding,” he told Central News Agency.

How lovely. Cheered me up after the dreadful story from a province in Indonesia where Sharia laa is being enforced allowing public caning of gays. Despicable primitive bigots. I know where to go for my next holidays and it won't be Indonesia!
