The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival has announced the nominees for the first Outfest Screen Idols award, honoring performances in gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender roles.
From top: Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp in Before Night Falls, Dan Futterman as Charlie in Urbania, Chloe Sevigny in If These Walls Could Talk 2 and Juliane Kohler and Maria Schrader as Felice Schragenheim in Aimee and Jaguar.
For the best male performance, the nominees are Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp (Before Night Falls), Robert Downey Jr. (Wonder Boys), Dan Futterman (Urbania) and Stuart Wells (Billy Elliot).
Members of the public can vote for their favourite actor or actress through the Outfest website. Winners will be announced on April 20.
The annual festival will run from July 12-13 and filmmakers will have until the end of March to submit narrative and documentary features and short films that are about and/or of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people.
