boys beat suspected gay schoolmate to death

A group of teenaged boys in northern Nigeria have allegedly beaten their schoolmate to death because they believed him to be gay.

Inuwa Yakuba of the Government Science Secondary School in Birnin Kudu was attacked in the early hours of Thursday morning by students who accused him of having sex with younger boys, according to a report by Agence France-Presse.

A local radio station reported that Yakuba was awakened by his attackers who later "seized him and took him to a nearby bush, giving him a thorough beating, which led to his death."

The case is being investigated by the education ministry and the police have already arrested 14 suspects.
