The Fifth Chinese Tongzhi Conference will be held in Hong Kong from May 2 to 5 with forums and workshops conducted in Mandarin, Cantonese and English on a range of gay related topics including sexual fetishes, legal reform and protection, consumerism, AIDS and STDs and development of the Tongzhi (literally translates into comrade but has since been appropriated by activists to refer to gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender) movement.
Since 1996, the conference had been successfully held in Hong Kong (1996,1998 and 1999) and Taiwan (2001). Cumulatively, over 1,000 participants from over 20 countries and regions have attended.
Registration is open at HKD$1,200 (USD$150) per person and includes meals and accommodation for four days and three nights.
