Airport officials have fired a luggage attendant who admitted playing a Bible verse and a death threat over the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport public speaker system after a gay couple collecting their luggage heard the message and filed a complaint, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Anthony Niedwiecki (right) and his partner of six years Waymon Hudson filed the complaint to airport officials shortly after they heard the message.
Monestime, who told investigators the message was intended as a prank, he used his cell phone to play a recording that said, "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, they should be put to death."
The announcement quoted from Leviticus 20:13, which, depending on the translation of the Bible, states that: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death."
Monestime, who was described by co-workers as a devout Christian, said he was not aware a gay couple was in the airport terminal and said that was just a coincidence and had no ill intent.
Anthony Niedwiecki (right) and his partner of six years Waymon Hudson, who filed the complaint to airport officials shortly after they heard the message, didn't consider it a prank.
"It was a death threat," Niedwiecki said. "I appreciate the fact that police followed up on this."
Niedwiecki and Hudson filed the complaint to airport officials that started the investigation. He will not face criminal charges, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Danny Pyne, co-owner of Superior Aircraft, said Monestime was fired Monday, and the company had issued an apology to the couple.

How can a gay christian feel comfortable with their sexuality and their god they have to read such quotes written here??
If Fridae is a site to help gay people to come out, meet others and feel comfortable, then some of the news they publish is a bit damaging!!
I dunno whether anyone else sometimes wonders about this too??
Jesus continued to write on the ground in the temple, where He had been teaching.
As they continued to ask Him, He raised himself up and said "He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone." Then He bent down and resumed writing on the ground.
One by one, the Pharisees being convicted by their conscience departed, until there was not one left.
Jesus said to her "Where are the ones who accused you?"
She replied " No one, Lord" and Jesus said to her "Neither do I give judgement"
At least this way persecution is evenly and fairly distributed.
Give the whole picture ok....Jesus also told the adulterous woman "but leave your life of sin" after saying "neither do I give judgement"...
But using this passge (about adultery) on discussing about sexual orientation is another debatable issue and some may find it a misuse of text.
Of course it is hurtful to hear such quotes. But think: should a Muslim give up his/her faith just because of some terrorists killed people? If so, then his/her faith is just too weak.
What if Changi airport public speaker system gave an announcement, saying "Cursed and put to death to all who worship idols"? I think the airport will be closed down for few weeks...
