Pink Alliance, a coalition of Hong Kong's LGBT groups, have launched the I am ME (我係我) video advocacy project to generate awareness about about anti-LGBT bullying of school students because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. It also hopes to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students in accepting their own identities, says its newly created Facebook page. The Alliance comprise representation from AIDS Concern, the Chi Heng Foundation, Elements, Mr Gay Hong Kong, Satsanga, Fruits in Suits, Les Peches, Queer Straight Alliance, the Tongzhi Literary Group and the Transgender Resource Center.
The first video, which features openly gay academic and writer Chow Yiu Fai (周耀輝), was launched online on April 10.
Organisers say they expect to complete production of the first set of six to eight videos by early 2013 to be uploaded for public viewership. The line-up includes lawmaker Raymond Chan (陳志全), activist Billy Leung, gender studies professor Dora Choi (蔡寶瓊);and pop stars Eman Lam (林二汶) and Anthony Wong (黃耀明).
