It’s been a busy month for Tom Daley. For the British diver who has spent much of the last few years in the spotlight, the young lad has just entered a new media swarm as he announced he was in a relationship with a man.
This was a very 21st century revelation. Like much of Tom’s life, it was all played out on Social Media. On 2nd December Daley tweeted a youtube video in which he stated: ‘Come spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great. And, well, that someone – is a guy.’
Speculation of who that lucky guy may be did not last long and director Dustin Lance Black was revealed as Daley’s boyfriend. The Acadamy Award winning director of Milk and LGBT activist tweeted, ‘Slept all day today after my trip to Russia. Did I miss anything?’.
Daley expanded upon his feelings and what led to him to ‘go public’ in an interview with Jonathon Ross. Here, he explained that it was a ‘terrifying decision to make’ and how alone and trapped he had felt because of his ‘dirty little secret.’
Much of the inevitable online reaction has centred on the fact that at no point has Daley said anything specific about his sexuality, neither mentioning the words gay or bisexual – but has stated that ‘obviously I still fancied girls’.
It seems the gay community are split as to whether to celebrate him as a gay icon or to malign him for not having the guts to admit his sexuality fully. Of course the B in LGBT is just as important as the other letters and sexuality isn’t something that has to be labelled or defined. For Daley, at least, this does not seem to be an issue and he has been throwing himself into training as he pushes for golf at Rio 2016.
It is within the sporting world that perhaps Daley can make the biggest difference. There were only 21 openly LGBT athletes out of the 12,602 that took part in the 2012 Olympics. The sporting world is still massively under-representative of the LGBT community and sportsmen and sportswomen often find it incredibly difficult to come out during their careers.

We , all the world will be happy for every gay/LGBT marriage or find their love.
We do not know about their purpose as we are not them
we only have reason to support them
So we all gays in the world should give them Toss from distance
world already no distance.
We can not do everything in life.
We are gay just only able to support other to find their happiness.
because We should not be like prophets or Religion or Hollybook to make invasion to everywhere by reward imaginary " happy/heaven"
because when gays happy, that is the heaven.
Yes, many gay/LGBT still in imperialism of Religion , they do not realized it because they are getting 'High"

We just let those who were upset; be upset. It was their problem. We refused to let it be ours.
I really do not think it is anyone's business no more than a handsome man being with someone who is not. We need to let people make their choices
Famous young sportsman likes cock.
Big deal...move on......
If anyone would like to try shaking someone awake in Fridae, *perhaps* they *might* like to feature *much* bigger news stories than (now) Old News about a niche figure.
Putin addressing Russian parliament to emphasise his/Russia's/*HIS* homophobic stance, perhaps?
Or what about India reversing progressive laws, and deciding to criminalise gay people once again, prompting protests, international condemnation, and the UN stepping in to urge a retraction of the retraction?
No?
Instead, Fridae (finally) serves up Last Week's stone-cold news about Tom Daley. As nice a guy as he may be, and a great diver, it's **ridiculous** that, with much bigger news stories relating to gay people and rights, *this* is what Fridae has decided to highlight?!
Call me a cranky journalist - which I Am - but this site is getting increasingly inept, and I won't be renewing my membership when it expires, after all these years here. Fridae - seriously, get your act together!. Given the easy, and quick, access to dozens of new gay-related stories around the world on a daily basis, it's pretty shoddy to feature old news from last week about a minor celebrity when policies negatively impacting on tens of millions of other gay people are making the headlines instead. Otherwise, what's the point in having this News section? (Sooo... Pics of A Diver are better than a story about reducing/retracting rights for gay men and women?!) What's the point in having all the extraneous stuff that Fridae is now bloated by?
Focus, please, focus... )):-(
Congratulations
Good Luck with everything
& the carnival plays on
But, I thnk there more important happenings around the globe such as economics, political, human issues. We need to focus on these happenings because there are affecting our daily lives.
Yea, Tom Daly is gay and he has a lover. So ? Being gay is not a big deal these days. Gay is still human being. Just that gays have different preferences in lives. It is certainly no longer a big issue. Certainly no big news to catch our attention. Who cares if a particular person is gay or not ....right ?
We'll..it's just my personal opinion. No offence intended.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
The Attorney General of India Goolam E Vahanvati, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Law, Justice Minister Kapil Sibal and even the Archbishop of Mumbai Cardinal Oswald Gracias, have all spoken out in support of decriminalising gay sex.
