13 arrested at gay orgy in Guangzhou

Guangzhou police have charged five men with 'group licentiousness' after they busted a gay sex club at a residential flat in Tianhe district of Guangzhou. The online sex club has nearly 3000 members.

The organiser, surnamed Wang, is a 37-year-old from Chongqing and was among those charged. It appears that Wang started the "Comrade Wins Club" online in December last year.

The QQ group has a membership of at least 2800, reportedly mainly middle class homosexual males in search of group sex. China Youth International reported that as many as 800 visited the apartment for gay sex.

Authorities conducted the midnight raid in February. Of the 13 arrested, seven were given 10 to 15 days of ‘administrative detention’, which is lighter than a prison sentence. Another five were ‘briefly educated’ before being freed.

Although China legalized adult gay sex in 1997 and removed homosexuality from an official list of psychiatric diseases in 2001, group licentiousness, constituting sex with three or more individuals whether male or female, is still a crime.

The arrests come amidst a wider national crackdown on the sex trade including in the nearby city of Dongguan, often referred to as the prostitute capital of China.

Group sex are NOT illegal in the part of Europe I know. Danmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and The Netherlands.

The state does not interfere in what adult persons do from free will.

Prostitution is different there are different rules in the different countries.
