The Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights (TAPCPR) issued a statement expressing sympathy for the victims of the explosion, which has killed two and injured nearly 500.

The alliance had planned to hold a march on July 4 in Taipei to push for same-sex marriage in Taiwan.

Instead, on July 11, the marchers will make their way to both the ruling huomintang and the main opposition DPP party headquarters to demand the inclusion of a marriage equality bill in the last session of the current legislature which will begin in September.

The TAPCPR also announced the intention to raise money for the victims of the tragedy with donations along the march going to a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services and rehabilitation for burn victims.
