An LGBT activist from Singapore, Rachel Yeo, has said she was barred from speaking at a Tedx event this week, sparking fresh criticism of homophobia in the city state.
A day before the event at independent Catholic school, St Joseph's, the 23-year-old student said she was removed from he talk due to education ministry regulations, according to Agence France-Presse.
The newswire reports the ministry has denied it had any involvement in the decision.
"This incident reminds us that there remains much work to be done to foster a truly inclusive society for all Singaporeans, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity," said a statement from the Inter-University LGBT Network, of which Yeo is research and advocacy director.
