This was greeted with overwhelming positive comments from the British media and senior Politicians across the UK’s political spectrum, including a congratulatory tweet from British Prime Minister.  Theresa May who had recently at her recent speech at the Conservative Party Conference hailed the strength of Diversity and Inclusion, as reflected in an openly Lesbian Political Leader having a baby with a same-sex partner.

We at Fridae think it is excellent too see such indications of acceptance and inclusion, and having such openly LGBT leaders in senior political roles, even where our Political views may differ, is a key development in the context of having visible role models for the LGBT Community, and we hope that we may soon begin to see similar powerful openness across Asia as well.

With similarly powerful openness, Ruth Davidson has also been public about her teenage battle with depression and we believe it powerful to have public figures being open about such issues, important for the LGBT Community as well as for the wider population.
