Taiwan’s Education Ministry this week revised a 2004 law that promotes sexual orientation and gender identity education in the Taiwan’s schools.
However, the Ministry’s proposed changes maintain LGBT-inclusive teaching in elementary and middle schools.
In November last year, more than six million people voted against Taiwan’s LGBT-inclusive Gender Equity Education Act, and in the same public vote, a majority also voiced against changing the Civil Code to grant LGBT marriage equality. The Ministry will also rename the ‘gay education’ section as ‘sexual orientation education’.
