Two Courts in Japan hear landmark same-sex marriage related cases

The Government stated it would fight the court action.

Today (15 April), two courts in Japan held initial hearings in landmark legal action against the Government’s failure to recognise same-sex marriages.

Courts in Tokyo and Sapporo heard arguments from plaintiffs suing the Government for its failure to recognise their same-sex relationships. Government attorneys then confirmed they would defend its position.
