Celebrating its 18th year, the Pride in Taipei on Saturday 31 October is estimated to have attracted a crowd of 130,000, despite rules which prevented foreign visitors.
They come from Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and elsewhere to see for themselves what it is like to be homosexual yet feel secure, to see gay couples hold hands.
More than 200,000 people took to the streets of Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, on Saturday for what organisers said was Asia’s largest-ever LGBT pride parade.
