First profiled in 2007 by Fridae and again in 2008 for his controversial short film based on an incident in which 12 men in Singapore were arrested for gay cruising, Singaporean director Boo Junfeng will no doubt become a household name as his debut feature Sandcastle hits the big screen this month.
Two short films, Tanjong Rhu by Boo Junfeng and Loo Zihan’s Threshold - which was to have its world premiere tomorrow - have been withdrawn by organisers just days before they are to be shown at a Singapore short film festival which begins tomorrow.
At 23, filmmaker Boo Junfeng is already being called the "next Royston Tan." His new gay short film Katong Fugue is based on Alfian Sa'at's play and has made it to the Singapore Film Fest finals. Viva gay cinema!
