The third regional ILGA-Asia conference to be held in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai is expected to bring together LGBT activists across Asia. Prof Douglas Sanders recalls his first ILGA conference held in Paris 15 years ago and provides an inside look at the challenges the organisation has had in organising in Asia.
Doug Sanders reports on "Queer Asian Sites," the second International Conference of Asian Queer Studies, which was held back to back with "Queer Space: Centres and Peripheries" in the lead up to the Mardi Gras parade in Sydney last weekend.
Described by attendees and organisers as "historic," the groundbreaking international conference of Asian queer studies held in Bangkok last week attracted some 550 scholars, NGO workers and gay activists from over 20 countries. Sylvia Tan reports from Bangkok.
