The members of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras at the extraordinary general meeting held last weekend voted to put 'Gay and Lesbian' back into the official name of the iconic event which celebrated its 35th anniversary this year.

Allegations of police brutality at the Sydney Mardi Gras parade last weekend have been reported as a video of a teen being handcuffed and thrown to the ground by a policeman after the parade has gone viral and from a second man who has come forward.

Malaysia-based AirAsia is an official sponsor of the Sydney Mardi Gras for the first time which is also a first for any mainstream Asia-based company.
