In The NewsSingapore's Nation Party (Qnews [Australia])
22 Aug, 2003
Singapore's third annual Nation dance party was held recently and hailed as the most successful yet with an estimated 4500 people attending the party. Described as the Mardi Gras of Asia, organisers attributed the large turnout to an unusual amount of favourable local and international press coverage. The CEO of Fridae.com Dr Stuart Koe said "On behalf of the GLBT community in Singapore, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to celebrate (Singapore's) National Day in such a spectacular and meaningful way. It is a clear display of how tolerant and accepting the vast majority of Singaporeans are, and I am proud that our government has the courage and fortitude to embrace gays and lesbians". |
