Fridae

This horror flick is one of the biggest blockbusters in Malaysian history, and it won't disappoint horror fans and Malay movie fans. But as horror flicks go, it is a somewhat predictable affair with its typical share of big and cheap scares.

Pierre Andre stars as a young man who is searching for the truth behind the mysterious death of his fiance. He teams up with her twin sister (Intan Ladyana) and goes to her house to investigate. There, they find a strange bottle, as well as many bizarre images in her digital camera. The more they uncover, the more they are convinced that this is a supernatural incident...

Most of the performances are fairly good, with Pierre Andre being especially convincing. Ahmad Idham's directing is competent, though we can think of a few other directors (like Shuhaimi Baba) who would have done a better job.

Since its release early this year, Don't Look Back has already grossed more money than any Malaysian film is recent history. It even looks set to overtake the biggest local grosser of all time, Sembilu 2. So if you're into horror or Malay films, this is a must-see.
