For animation fans, this is the movie they've been waiting for since the start of the year.
Based on a classic Dr Seuss' children's book, Horton Hears a Who! tells a very cute story of a sensitive jungle elephant named Horton, whose big ears allow him to hear the voices of the Whos tiny, microscopic creatures that live in a dust speck.
The other jungle animals do not believe Horton when he tells them about the Whos. But Horton believes that "a person is a person, no matter how small", and makes every effort to protect the community of Whos from being harmed.
Horton Hears a Who! is a terrific 3-D cartoon that boast glorious eye-popping visuals and fantastical characters. The world of the Whos is a wondrous place filled with all sorts of contraptions and devices that help them get around. In short, there is almost no shortage of visual candy in the cartoon. The voice talents, which include Jim Carrey, Steve Carrell and Carol Burnett, are simply incredible.
The only thing it lacks is a satisfying storyline. The original story is, after all, rather childish and simplistic. And despite the filmmakers' efforts to pad it up, it still comes off as too thin.
